For the Selfish Host — Why Styling the Table Is Your Act of Self-Care
Share
Because Setting the Table for Yourself Isn’t Selfish — It’s How You Refill Your Glass Before You Pour for Others.
There are days when I rush from one thing to the next — laptop still open, candle half-burned, dinner more survival than ritual.
But then I catch myself and think:
No.
Slow down.
Light the candles properly.
Styling the table has become my reset button.
It’s five quiet minutes to turn off the world and turn toward something beautiful.
Not for guests, not for Instagram — just Me.
When I started Noble & Nordic, I wanted to help people reclaim that feeling.
The idea that beauty at home isn’t a luxury; it’s an act of self-respect.
Folding the napkin neatly, placing the cutlery just so, choosing the linen that makes you smile (might even bring back a few memories from that very special Granny, that had a few things to say back then....) — these are small, private rituals of care.
Even on nights when it’s soup from the fridge, I’ll still light the candles.
Because it tells my brain: You’re Home Now.
And that feeling is truly worth everything to me.
So if you ever feel guilty for wanting the table to look beautiful, when it’s “Just You,” don’t... or the two of you.
You’re allowed to make ordinary evenings extraordinary.
You’re allowed to be the Guest of Honour in Your Own Life.
