A Nordic Kind of Magic — Why Christmas Tables Should Feel, Not Shout
Share
There’s Something About Christmas that Brings Out the More in All of Us.
More decorations, more sparkle, more noise.
But I’ve learned — both through years of hosting and my Scandinavian roots — that More doesn’t always mean Better.
When I think of a truly beautiful Christmas table, I don’t picture a loud one.
I think of the quiet classic kind. The kind where you can hear the soft crackle of candles, see the reflection of glass and greenery, and feel that lovely hush just before everyone sits down.
That’s the magic I wanted to capture when I created the Noble & Nordic Christmas Collection.
Each tablescape is designed to make you pause — just for a moment — and feel something.
Warmth. Calm. Connection.
Whether it’s the black velvet ribbon tied around a linen napkin, or the way the candlelight glows against a gold-rimmed glass, every detail is there to create atmosphere, not clutter.
It’s easy to forget, but Christmas doesn’t need to perform.
It’s not a competition of sparkle or the number of crackers per metre.
It’s a season meant to be felt — and the table, I think, should reflect that.
So if you find yourself rushing (and who doesn’t?), take five quiet minutes to set the table slowly.
Add a sprig of pine.
Tie that bow.
Let your guests walk in and feel the calm before the conversation.
Because in the end, the best compliment isn’t “WOW, you’ve outdone yourself again.”
It should be... “this feels beautiful.”
And to me, that’s exactly what Christmas should be — a season that feels beautiful.
